In memory of John Foglesong

John Foglesong, passed away on October 21st, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. John is well know in the District 8 Pattern Community and has always supported aerobatic competition. No matter what John was involved in he was always looking for ways to make it enjoyable for everyone involved.

As many of you know the Northwest Model Expo moved from Puyallup to Monroe Washington. What you might not know is the expo would have ended if john had not stepped up and made Monroe happen. This was a huge effort and a good example of John’s passion for our hobby.

The D8 Can-Am contest was developed by John to promote Canadian and American pattern competition. The first two contests were held in Concrete Washington in 2004 and 2005. Then after a gap of a few years the contests resumed in Snohomish in 2010. The Can-Am is a great example of John’s love of Pattern and life, he always worked hard to make his contests memorable and they always were! Our D8 web site home page picture is from the first Concrete contest John organized. John has left us the Can-Am contest legacy that we will continue in his honor.

John had a great passion for our hobby and helped out with keeping the pattern scene going in District 8. He had a refreshingly less serious outlook on pattern.

Godspeed and blue skies John. You will be missed in District 8. Sorry to see you go so soon.
