Hello, my name is Marvin Marozas. I live on the coast of South Carolina in the historic seaport of Georgetown with my wife of 30+ years, Anne Marie. I have two sons, Michael a computer engineer and Jason a network technician. We're a geeky family - Anne Marie is the technology coordinator for the high school and I am Vice President for IT at Coastal Carolina University.

I was born in the mountains of North Carolina in 1955, but moved to Aiken, SC when I was about a year old. I got started in model airplanes at an early age, first in plastic models and then in control line when I was 12. I flew fast combat and competed several times at the US Championships. When I was in college I started flying RC with a 60 size Ugly Stick and Kraft radio. I spent countless hours at R.E. Walker's hobby shop in Augusta, GA admiring their sleek fleet of pattern planes. Augusta was a pattern hotbed back then. I was awestruck as I watched how precisely a pattern plane could fly in the hands of a skilled pilot. I dreamed of owning and flying a pattern plane. For Christmas in 1974 I got a Kwik Fly III and started building it. But, with meager funds, marriage right after I graduated college, and the start of a family a couple of years later, it was 1987 before I got back into flying RC on a regular basis. I flew my first pattern meet in the spring of 1988 in Sumter, SC. I finished the Kwik Fly and flew it at the Augusta contest in fall of the same year. I've been flying pattern ever since.

I'm currently flying a Focus with an OS 140RX that I built in 2001. I'm slowly building a Focus II and hope to be flying it later this spring. I fly with Futaba radios. When I first started flying pattern it was all about winning. I won my fair share, and like most things in life, found that the results were directly proportional to the effort invested. But, as the years have gone by and my skills, competitive juices, and effort have waned, I find that I've stuck with pattern for a totally different reason than I started. It is now all about the camaraderie and spending time with a wonderful fraternity of fellow pilots who share the same passion. Let’s go fly!
