I finally got back from the D2//D3 Challenge held in Covington, Georgia. A total of 28 D2 and D3 pilots attended to defend their districts. I must commend the D2 pilots that traveled to the contest to take on District 3. District 2 had good attendance but just not good enough. We needed some Sportsman pilots. We had no representation at all in Sportsman. Dale Arnold took on the D3 talent in FAI but ended up in 2nd place while Jason Shulman somehow was able to take 1st place. We were well represented in Masters. George Asteris, Jeff Carter, Chris Moon, and Marvin Marozas made the trip to support D2. George was plagued with problems throughout the weekend and by Sunday there was little he could do to move into one of the top 3 places. Jeff Carter held on with a solid 2nd. Great Job! Chris Moon supported D2 with a 5th place. (Not bad for not really knowing the pattern until after the 2nd round) Marvin was doing very well until damage from a landing forced him to call it a day. The Advance class was represented by Tim Taylor, taking first place and myself taking 3rd place. D2 was supported in the Intermediate Class by JR Varela, A J, and Rick Harn. JR held on to a solid 3rd place all the way through the contest. A J was doing great until he became a victim of a mid-air. His Wind 110 was totaled. (A J get that new one ready. I want to see you at the FARM Contest) By the way A J you took 4th place. Rick Harn did well with a 5th place showing. I commend Rick for his coming out to support D2. This is his first year in Intermediate and he his doing well.
I want to thank all the pilots that showed up to support District 2 in this D2/D3 challenge. Now for all the pilots that did not make it, I'm Sure You All Had a Good Excuse!!! I must admit in the end District 2 was not able to win the event, but there is always next year. Great Job District 3! Victor thanks for a great contest and some fantastic ribs!!!!
Everyone don't forget the FARM contest coming up in two weeks. Should be a great contest!
