April Update

E-mail Print PDF

Just a short note to let everyone know how much I have appreciated your support during my recent experience with a heart attack and surgery.  I am now in the recovery phase of heart surgery and doing better every day.  I am able to walk a mile and hope to do better as time goes on.  Doctors tell me I will better than I was! Still can't drive or lift more than 5 pounds but that may change shortly.  I certainly miss the ability to attend the 1st D2 contest but perhaps Winston Salem, if nothing more than to see everyone.  All of you D2 pilots keep practicing and attending the contest.  Without all of you, D2 is only another district in NSRCA.  By the way the FARM contest will go off as scheduled.  This year I am looking at doing gift certificates for the top three places in all classes. (the certificates will be from a vender that sells only pattern merchandise)

Keep practicing and keep the wings level!

Future Rule changes and your input

E-mail Print PDF

I want stress how important it is that I receive input from the District as to what rule changes you would like to see.  We are currently working on changes that could effect weight limits, safety, advancement in classes and use of telemetry.  I need your input as a pattern pilot to express your thoughts.  Calls and emails will be appreciated.  If you don't act I can not represent you fairly.  I will be happy to discuss your thoughts as to changes or for that matter if you feel not changes are needed that's fine too.  You can call or email.

Thanks!

January Update

E-mail Print PDF

I hope everyone is doing well after the holidays.   I 'm sure everyone had their wish list filled with all the pattern goodies they were asking for.  Would you believe it?  I actually flew a few rounds in January here in Northern Va.  That is not normal for this area. I replaced the 30-10 EVo that was in my Visa with a new Plettenberg Advance.  I could not believe the difference in power and how quiet it was.  Now I have to change my throttle curve.  Ok everyone, we have again been challenged by D3 again this year.  I have talked to Vector about last years site and the issues that surfaced in 2011.  We will be flying at a new site and changes are being made as far as scheduling.  Dates are March 31st and April 1st.  I'm looking forward to going.  Put it on your calendar. By the way the new site does look very nice and to top it off those famous ribs will be served.

JR Varela is working on the final approval of a new contest at his home field in Bridge Water. Va.  Dates are June 9th and 10th.  Lets make sure to support him.  Travel distance from southern areas to his site will be a couple hours closer then the Northern Virginia contests.  This could become another annual contest for the district.  The FAM contest will again be in May. (Dates 26 and 27th) Make sure to put it on your calendar.  Buff Miller has scheduled his Green Sea contest for April 21st and 22nd.  I'm sure Bill will be adding the Winston Salem contest to the list. I would expect it to be scheduled for the first or 2nd week of May.  Looks to me District 2 will be doing fine this year.  Lot's of contest to go to.  Now that we have the contests how about everyone helping me getting some more Sportsman fliers!!!!!  WE NEED TO INCREASE THE SPORTSMAN FLIERS!!  I have a thought.  Free entry into a contest if you bring a new Sportsman pilot along to fly in the contest. (You and the sportsman pilot)  How does the district feel? Let me know.

Have a great New Year!
